Director of Accounting & Financial Analysis

The Director of Accounting & Financial Analysis will report to the VP of Accounting and work closely with the Jackson Healthcare accounting team and the CEO of Jackson Investment Group (JIG). This role is responsible for overseeing the accounting and month-end close processes and reconciliations for various companies, cost centers and investments within the consolidated JIG operations. This position requires strong technical accounting skills, the ability to understand complex entities and unique structures, and strong technology, systems, and reporting skills. This individual should be comfortable with creating ad hoc analysis and presenting analysis to executives. This individual is also involved in the budgeting and forecasting process for the JIG entities.  

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain accounting policies, procedures and processes to strengthen internal controls
  • Prepare budget, actual forecast reports and meet with appropriate company executives to review results and analyze variances
  • Coordinate and collaborate on the consolidation of timely monthly financial statements by collecting, interpreting and reporting financial data
  • Provide technical accounting guidance and oversight to assigned companies
  • Ad hoc projects as required for VP of Accounting and CEO
  • Research technical accounting issues as needed
  • Lead month-end and year-end close processes
  • Manage and comply with new and proposed accounting standards and advise management on needed actions
  • Create and deliver presentations or reports on projects, to include progress, issues, risks, financials, recommendations, and other metrics as required
  • Protect operations by keeping financial information and plans confidential
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Education/License/Certification:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required
  • Active CPA required

Required Experience:

  • 7+ years related work experience in accounting
  • 3+ years of public accounting experience
  • Controller-level experience at a $100 million+ company
  • Workday experience, a plus

Required Knowledge:

  • Strong knowledge and understanding of accounting principles and procedures and GAAP
  • Advanced understanding of general ledger functions and month-end close processes
  • Advanced knowledge and demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Excel
  • Deep understanding and experience with financial management systems
  • Ability to create and extract management reports and information from financial systems
  • Ability to produce ad-hoc analysis for leadership and present financial information in a clear and concise manner for executives
